Who Is Eligible to Take the LEPT?

Under RA 7836 (as amended by RA 9293), you are eligible if you:

  • Are a Filipino citizen (or an alien whose country has reciprocity with the Philippines)
  • Are at least 18 years old
  • Are of good moral character and have not been convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude
  • Hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution:
    • Elementary Level: Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) or equivalent
    • Secondary Level: Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) or a bachelor's degree with at least 18 units of Professional Education

Documentary Requirements

Prepare the following documents before your PRC appointment:

  1. Transcript of Records (TOR) — Original and photocopy with Special Order (SO), graduation date, school seal, scanned photo, and the remark "For Board Examination Purposes Only"
  2. PSA-issued Birth Certificate — Original and photocopy
  3. Marriage Certificate (for married female applicants) — PSA-issued, original and photocopy
  4. Recent 2×2 ID photo — JPG format, plain white background, decent attire with collar
  5. Valid ID — Government-issued with photo and signature

Exam Fee

  • ₱900 for bachelor's degree holders
  • ₱600 for non-bachelor's degree holders

Step-by-Step Application Process

  1. Create a PRC LERIS account at online.prc.gov.ph (if you don't have one yet)
  2. Apply online through the LERIS portal — select the LEPT exam and your preferred testing center
  3. Schedule an appointment at a PRC regional office or satellite branch
  4. Submit your documents in person on your appointed date — bring original and photocopies
  5. Pay the exam fee at the PRC cashier or authorized payment channel
  6. Receive your Notice of Admission (NOA) — this is your exam permit. Keep it safe.

For Retakers

  • Retakers must reapply online via LERIS and submit the same documents
  • Bring your previous NOA or proof of previous exam
  • After two consecutive failures, you must submit a Transcript of Records from a PRC-accredited refresher course

Major Testing Centers

The LEPT is administered in testing centers across the Philippines, including Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Legazpi, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Butuan, and other major cities. International testing centers have also included Hong Kong and Thailand.
